Status:

Resolved - Adobe Reader Configuration

Users Affected:

Users who may have updated to Adobe Reader X

Description:

Adobe has recently released a new version of Adobe Reader, Adobe Reader X. This new version changes the way that it will display PDF documents in web browsers.

Workaround:

Cause:

By default, Adobe Reader X will have an option turned on called "Display in Read Mode by Default." This option will cause PDF’s in the GradLeaders Career Center to display with no toolbar.

Resolution:

To print resumes while using Adobe Reader X, users can right click on the resume and choose Print.

In order to use advanced functionality such as Saving, Adobe Reader X will need to be changed to not open in "Read Mode" inside of internet browsers.

To change Adobe Reader X from opening in "Read Mode," follow the below steps:

  1.     Open Adobe Reader X
  2.     Choose Edit - Preferences - Internet
  3.     Untick "Display in Read Mode by default"
  4.     Press OK

Once this option is turned off, close any open web browsers that may be displaying PDFs. From this point forward, any PDFs that are opened inside of a web browser, will have the tool bar present.
